EKAM: touring rides
We arrange annual longer tours both at home and abroad. A Weekend in Wales is a staple in EKAM and very popular, our Midsummer Madness and Late Summer Madness day trips to France are a good way to start exploring the continent in good company. We do longer trips every now and then, recently 4 days riding in the Cevennes in southern France proved to be a popular concept. Find out about the trips and how to book a place on them in eNews.
Weekend in Wales
Normally on the second weekend in May the trip starts on a Friday morning near Oxford then cross country to our hotel in mid Wales. The hotel offers an excellent location, top class facilities including a pool, spa and gym, and provides excellent food and accommodation.
Weekend rides sample the stunning Welsh roads from coastal corniches to mountain passes with sweeping bends to tight hairpins, all in amazing scenery.
Monday is a ride back to Oxford, where we disperse to tackle the delights of an afternoon on the M25. Bookings open in January and numbers are limited so if you’re interested, make sure that you book when it’s announced.
Mid-Summer and Late-Summer Madness (MSM & LSM)
These are day trips across the channel, riding some of the great roads in the Pas-de-Calais and Somme Départments of Northern France. MSM is on the Saturday closest to mid-summer’s day, LSM on the first Saturday in September. The ‘Madness’ refers to the requirement to be at Dover by 04:30 in time to catch the 06:15 ferry.
The trips concentrate on country and coastal roads, with numerous villages and some fabulous scenery. The pace is quite progressive, but there are regular stops for refuelling and refreshment. The return ferry is at 19:00. These are long days and immensely popular. Booking details are given in eNEWS@EKAM nearer the time.
Isle of Wight
The Isle of Wight trip runs from Friday to Monday. Starting with a cross country ride from Kent to the ferry at Portsmouth, with weekend rides on the Island and returning to Kent on the Monday. First run in late September 2025, it proved very popular and we plan to run the trip each year. Booking details will be given in eNEWS@EKAM nearer the time.
Other trips
The club has a history of arranging ad hoc ‘longer’ trips – a West Country weekend; a Young Riders in France trip; visits to Duxford, Loomies Moto Café and Grafham Water; visits to Northern France battlefields; a trip to hear the Last Post at the Menin Gate in Ypres; to name a few.
Additionally club members organise their own trips around the UK and abroad which they advertise for club members to join.
Keep your eye on eNEWS@EKAM and on Tracker for details.
