EKAM: our committee
That EKAM runs as smoothly as it does is testament to the work behind the scenes of our committee members. Our current Committee, and their roles within EKAM, are shown below.
We are always keen to have new blood and new ideas brought in to the Committee to make sure that the club continues to serve our members’ interests. Descriptions of Committee roles
CHAIR
The Chair is responsible to oversee the activities of the club, ensuring the club’s practices and policies result in a thriving charity, complies with all relevant laws and IAM Roadsmart requirements. The Chair works closely with other officers of the club, acts as the spokesperson for the club and will be involved with any issues of conflict which may arise. The chair is one of the club Trustees.
VICE-CHAIR
The Vice-Chair assists the Chair in their role. They will take over certain responsibilities when the Chair is unavailable.
SECRETARY
The Secretary collates all papers and arrangements for club committee meetings, the AGM and maintains the records of all formal meetings. They are the main club point-of-contact for IAM Roadsmart. The Secretary is also the contact for the Charity Commission and provides the annual return. The Secretary is one of the club Trustees.
TREASURER
The Treasurer produces and manages the club’s accounts and finances and maintains and controls access to the club’s bank account. The Treasurer provides advice on whether planned expenditure is in line with the charitable and legal requirements of the club. The Treasurer is one of the club Trustees.
MEMBERSHIP SECRETARY
The Membership Secretary maintains club membership details and IAM Roadsmart membership status. The Membership Secretary processes applications for membership and renewals. They also respond to ad-hoc enquiries about club membership.
CHIEF OBSERVER
The Chief Observer co-ordinates and monitors all Observer activities, to ensure a consistently high standard of observing is delivered by the entire corps and is the first point of contact for all observers and associates should any issues arise. He also takes feedback from Examiners and ensures timely action of any issues arising.
RIDEOUT COORDINATOR
The Ride-Co-ordinator plans, organises and advertises regular club social rides, (and occasional extra rides), including associate rides. They also apply the EKAM Social Riding policy to group rides and endeavour to ensure it is observed during rides.
ENEWS EDITOR
The eNews editor, with the help of members who submit articles, produces a monthly newsletter of club activities and interests.
SOCIAL MEDIA
The social media officer keeps track of all the social media accounts for the club, performing admin duties across all the accounts. Also creating content to show the activities of the club.
COMMUNICATIONS
The Communications officer oversees the clubs outward facing communications strategy, promotional material, website, eNews and social media.
