EKAM events
Our members all joined EKAM to improve their riding skills and pass their IAM Roadsmart Advanced riding test. Most stay, not only to pass on their knowledge and experience, but also continue to be involved with a friendly, inclusive and sociable group of like-minded riders. Throughout the year, we meet across a variety of meets and events. Members can keep up to date on these using Tracker. The main regular activities we put on throughout the year include the following.
Club night
Once a month we meet at Sandy Acres Sports and Social Club for a get together. We host a variety of talks and presentations from interesting speakers. Recently we’ve heard from Michelin Tyres, Kent Police, Trail Riders Fellowship and we had Kent Fire Service come and hold their “Biker Down” first aid course for our members. We also go to Dealer Demos at various biker dealers to try out some of their stock and hold an annual Fish n’ Chip Ride in the summer. For details about our Club Nights, have a look at our calendar here.
Group rides
One of the highlights for many members in our club are the Group Rides we arrange. The schedule holds a variety of rides to suit all tastes. From learning about our group riding system and meeting fellow riders in training on Associate Rides to the Sunday Club Rides and Summer Evening Rides. Our team of Ride Leaders are almost guaranteed to take you on some roads you’ve never been on and then to a nice kentish café for a cuppa and a chat. For details about our rides, log into Tracker and you’ll find them in the Calendar.

Touring
We arrange annual longer tours both at home and abroad. A Weekend in Wales is a staple in EKAM and very popular, our Midsummer Madness and Late Summer Madness day trips to France are a good way to start exploring the continent in good company. We do longer trips every now and then, recently 4 days riding in the Cevennes in southern France proved to be a popular concept. Find out about the trips and how to book a place on them in eNews.
Training weekend
A great way to ramp up your training is to join the annual Training Weekend, a two day trip with a hotel night. The destination may vary from year to year, previous destinations have been Peterborough and Basingstoke. This is a great opportunity to get more training in. Associates are paired up and get assigned an Observer for one ride and debrief each, with the resting associate shadowing behind the observer. Over two days each associate gets four observed rides with different observers and a fun group ride on the way back to Kent. Any associate at any level is welcome to book as we have plenty of Observers and Masters Mentors riding.
Information will show up in eNews, or you can contact the Chief Observer for more information and booking.
