Streamlining operations for a growing freight forwarder with Raft AI and CargoWise

CLIENT PROFILE

The client is an independent freight forwarder who specializes in international logistics and who has client-specific visibility deliverables.

THE CHALLENGE

After the initial audit of the client’s work processes it was determined the client was manually creating shipments and consolidations in CargoWise, using a variety of inbound documentation from both customers and carriers. This process was time-consuming for the internal operators, error-prone, and created inconsistent data quality – impacting both internal efficiency and customer-facing deliverables.

THE SOLUTION

MBL deployed Raft AI, under MBL’s fully managed Bosun product, to automate the ingestion and processing of documentation. Customer purchase orders and carrier bookings were leveraged to generate shipments and consolidations directly within CargoWise.

MBL handled the initial document processing, working closely with the client to adjust Raft’s data mapping and configuration. The implementation was customized to meet their specific data integrity standards – ensuring structured, accurate data landed correctly in CargoWise fields.

Post ‘go-live’ the client has moved into MBL’s self-service process with MBL remaining in place for ongoing management.

THE RESULTS

Increased automation: Nearly 50% of all files are now automatically created in CargoWise via Raft.
Improved data quality: Mappings were tailored to meet the client’s expectations, resulting in high-quality, clean file data.
Operational efficiency: Staff saved 30% of time by removing manual data, leaving more time to focus on customer service and operations.
Enhanced client visibility and reporting: With consistent file structures, the forwarder now provides accurate, timely reporting to customers – boosting satisfaction and visibility.

CONCLUSION

By reviewing the client’s former process of inbound data management and manual file creation and implementing MBL’s fully managed services for file creation, the client was able to see the process in real time use and become comfortable with the operational intelligence process.

Along with this approach, the targeted goals of Raft + CW implementation has helped the forwarder scale operations, reduce manual work, and offer a higher-value experience to their customers – without needing to grow their internal headcount.
